Last two months were very busy especially in the L’Arche workshops and not only because of well celebrated birthdays that you can see on some photos. We have finally workshop assistants – people who understand the difference between leisure and work activities, which improved enormously the functioning of the workshops and quality of afternoon activities. Some core members changed their workshop and are very happy about it. Photos show how Musa is proud of his first cake! Our afternoon activities are much better organised as well. Drama therapy led initially by Chiara (Italian drama therapist, currently volunteer in St.Martin) and now by trained by her assistants is a big success. The same gym sessions, initiated by Rachel (physiotherapist and member of L’Arche Kenya) and now during her absence led by workshop assistants team, are an attractive alternatives to siesta. Core Members Prayer is less verbal and helps people to express their spirituality in more creative ways.
European summer months means for us more visitors. My sister Bogusia started the season. After her initial week in our house she moved to volunteers’ accommodation. Straight after Michael from Effatha joined us during the time when the community welcomed Declan –Community Leader of L’Arche Cork. His visit gave us a lot of unforgivable memories: guitar night with the fire, Irish music and dancing; sessions with chameleon living in our garden, chasing giraffes and other smaller or bigger animals on Crescend Island and walk along the equator in Subukia where we witness very unusual solar activity: very clear ring around the sun.
More guests in our next post…
During that time we also managed to start the new website for L’Arche Kenya (www.larchekenya.org), and also less formal page on facebook (on Facebook page search for L’Arche Kenya).
